Chicago Bandits News Release
With two on, Rachel Folden blasted a two run double to left center to give the Bandits an early lead in the bottom of the first. Three batters later and with two on again in the first inning, Trimboli sent a hard grounder past the first basemen to score two more runs to make it 4-0 early in the first.
Thorson held tight in the top half of the second, allowing only one runner on that was eventually caught stealing by catcher Rachel Folden at second base.
In the top of the third and with one on and no outs, Philadelphia Force short stop Audrey LaFountain blasted a double over Bandits' centerfielder Nicole Trimboli's head for an RBI double, bringing the score to 4-1.
After pegging the Force's Lillian Hammond to put a runner on first, Thorson took out the next three batters with a line out, pop out and ground out.
With one out in the bottom of the third, Bandits' first baseman Samantha Findlay blasted a solo home run, deep over the score board in left field to put the Bandits up 5-1. Two batters later and with Vicky Galindo on second, Nicole Trimboli sent a sacrifice fly to right field, pushing Galindo to third. The bottom half of the fourth ended shortly after. Jennie Finch stepped into the pitchers circled in the top of the fifth to replace Kristina Thorson for the Bandits. After putting a runner at third with two outs, Finch pitched a ground out to short for the final out of the inning.
Finch closed out the game, earning the save.
Folden went 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs and a run for the Bandits, and Stacy May added a 2-for-3 performance with a run.
Thorson finished up with four innings pitched, one trikeout, two walks and one earned run. Finch pitched three innings with six strikeouts, one walk and no earned runs.
For the Force, Sallinger finished with four innings and the loss. Stacy Birk pitched two innings in relief.
In the top of the seventh, Finch sat down three straight batters to end the game and earn the save.
