Buffalo Bandits News Release

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed goaltender Matt Vinc to a new three-year deal, pending league approval. His previous contract was set to expire after the 2020-21 season.

"Following this past season, Matt indicated he felt he could play longer, so it was a no brainer to extend his contract one more year," said Bandits General Manager Steve Dietrich. "Most importantly, Matt was willing to restructure his contract in a way that we hope will help keep our team intact, as well as sign any potential free agents in the future. For a player who has only played in Buffalo for one season, that shows a very strong commitment to his teammates, the fans and the organization."

Vinc (6'1", 212 lbs., 6/9/1982) finished his first season as a Bandit leading the league in goals-against average (10.02) and ranked second in save percentage (.803). He earned 14 wins, which led all NLL goaltenders, set a new personal career high and set a new franchise record for wins by a goalie in a single season. At the conclusion of the season, the NLL named Vinc the Goaltender of the Year, marking the seventh time in the last decade he's won the award.

The St. Catharines, Ontario native's career has spanned 13 seasons, having spent time with the San Jose Stealth, New York/Orlando Titans and the Rochester Knighthawks before signing with the Bandits as a free agent prior to the 2018-19 season. Vinc currently leads all NLL goalies in career wins (112), saves (7,823) and minutes played (11,996). He holds a career 10.79 goals-against average and .784 save percentage.
