Chicago Bandits News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. - After watching the Akron Racers come from behind to win game one 3-2 Thursday night, the Bandits looked to get even at the Ballpark at Rosemont Friday night in game two.

The score was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth, when Bandits first baseman Alisa Goler hit a double off the left field fence, scoring Amber Patton from first to give the Bandits a 4-3 lead.

Chicago added two more runs in the frame to give themselves a three-run cushion heading into the seventh.

Monica Abbott picked up the win for Chicago, improving her record to a perfect 7-0 on the year. After giving up a two-run home run to Akron's Lisa Modglin in the top of the first, she was able to settle down, only allowing another run in the top of the third after Brianna Hesson batted in Modglin, giving the Racers a 3-2 advantage heading into the bottom of the third.

Megan Wiggins wasted no time and tied the game again in the the bottom of the third, hitting a long solo homer over the bleachers in right field.

The game remained tied until the Bandits were able to string three runs together in the bottom of the sixth, and Abbott shut down the Racers in the top of the seventh to seal Chicago's league-best 14th win of the season.
