ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have announced that they will host their annual open tryout for the upcoming 2016 season on Sunday, May 29. Open tryouts will begin at 9 a.m. and will take place on the Bandits home field, The Ballpark at Rosemont.

"This has become one of the most important days of the season for us," said GM Aaron M. Moore. "Our organization has been very serious about our open tryout and because of that, we have been successful in securing some really good players.

"Players that join our team each year out of tryouts are asked to contribute and they do just that. We've found All-NPF players out of this day and we expect this season to be no different."

Tryouts are open to women, age 21 and over, who have completed their collegiate eligibility at a four-year institution. A payment of $45 must be sent to the Chicago Bandits prior to open tryouts and can be mailed to the front office at 27 Jennie Finch Way, Rosemont, IL 60018 or faxed to 630-396-3095.

Open tryout participants are required to bring their equipment including a glove, cleats, catcher's gear, batting helmet, bat and batting gloves.

Participants will be judged based on their hitting, fielding, position specific skills, base running and 40-yard time, as well as arm strength and knowledge of the game.

Fans are welcome to watch the potential Bandits players try out for their spot on the team free of charge.

Following tryouts, select players will be asked to stay and suit up for the Bandits as they take on the Indiana Slammers in an exhibition game beginning at 5:05 p.m. The Bandits will make their selection for the 2016 roster spot(s) immediately following the exhibition game. Players may also be asked to play in the Bandits exhibition game on Monday, May 30 against the Southern Illinois Miners.

The Bandits have had great success in recent years with tryouts and have re-signed three current players on the roster to the 2016 season. The signings include 2015 NPF Offensive Player of the Year Brittany Cervantes, Danielle Zymkowitz and Natalie Hernandez.

Online registrations for the Bandits 2016 open tryouts can also be made at www.chicagobanditsevents.com.

The defense of the Cowles Cup begins on Thursday, June 2 when the Bandits host the Scrap Yard Dawgs at The Ballpark at Rosemont for the 2016 home opener. Single-game tickets for all 2016 home games, including the home opener and the team's ring and banner ceremony on June 18, are now on sale at chicagobandits.com or by calling the box office at 877-722-6348.
