Buffalo Bandits News Release

Buffalo, N.Y. (December 2, 2004) — Buffalo Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott announced today the team has acquired defenseman Chris White from the San Jose Stealth in exchange for the Bandits first-round selection (from Toronto) in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. All transactions are subject to league approval.

"Chris is a great young defender," stated Silcott. "He's game is similar to the other defenders: Laverty, Smith, Couling, etc. He is an exceptional athlete and will add a lot to our team. With Chris Langdale's situation in question, we feel that Chris White will be able to step in and make an impact right away. We expect him to be here in Buffalo as one of our core defensemen for years to come."

White (6-0, 205) appeared in all 16 games for the Stealth during the 2004 season, setting career-highs in goals (3), assists (3), loose balls collected (47) and penalty minutes (43). He finished ranked third on the team in penalties (16) and penalty minutes.

The Peterborough, Ontario native has played in 29 career games in the National Lacrosse League, scoring eight points (4+4), collecting 74 loose balls and spending 61 minutes in the penalty box. He was originally drafted by Albany with their second-round selection (20th overall) in the 2001 NLL Entry Draft.

White appeared in 15 games over the summer for the Mann Cup Champion Peterborough Lakers of the Ontario Lacrosse Association, where he was a teammate of current Buffalo defenseman Kyle Laverty. During the Mann Cup playoffs, he scored 11 points (2+9) and registered 27 penalty minutes in 13 games for the Lakers.

Today the team placed defenseman Chris Langdale on the hold-out list.

"Right now, Chris has a lot going on back at home," added Silcott. "His work situation is not ideal for him to play this season and he's the type of person that will only come to play if he can be 100% committmented. Currently, he's not sure he can do that. We're hopeful that he'll be able to join us at some point later this season. The team keeping in contact with him and will continue to monitor his situation."

The Bandits will open the 2005 season against the Toronto Rock at the HSBC Arena on Friday, January 7, 2005, at 7:30 PM. Ticket packages are available by calling the Buffalo Bandits Ticket Office at 1-888- 467-2273, or fans can purchase packages at the HSBC Arena Box Office or any Tickets.com locations.
