Baltimore Bayhawks Draft 15 Players, Some Familiar Faces

The Baltimore Bayhawks drafted fifteen players in the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft held January 14th in Philadelphia. Baltimore selected Dave Daniecki, Sean Radebaugh, Gavin Prout, Jamison Mullen, Kevin Kaiser, Casey Connor, Matt Alrich, Bob Benson, Ben Defelice, Mike Hammer, CJ Kemp, Bill Daye, Drew Pfarr, Tom Melanson and Greg Wojtech.

Some names may sound familiar, as many of the players are native to the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Eleven of the fifteen players drafted are local alums, coming from high schools including Loyola, Calvert Hall College, McDonogh, Towson High, St. Mary's, and Georgetown Prep. Nine of this year's draftees come from Maryland collegiate programs: Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland, Loyola College, Towson, UMBC, and Salisbury University.

Of the fifteen draft picks, five players: Daniecki, Radebaugh, Kaiser, Connor and Benson played with the team last season. During the 2004 season, they contributed twelve goals and four assists to the team's stat book. Benson managed to put nine goals on the board along with one assist over four games. Radebaugh scored three with two assists in his three games with the 2004 Bayhawks, and Casey Connor contributed one assist over his five games. Daniecki and Kaiser both saw time with the defense; Daniecki against Rochester and Boston, and Kaiser against Rochester. The team also picked Mullen and Alrich who participated last season on the practice squad.

CJ Kemp, a Georgetown Prep alum, and Mike Hammer, a Georgetown University alum, also played in the MLL last season; Kemp with the Rochester Rattlers, and Hammer with the Long Island Lizards. Kemp stopped nine of fourteen shots in his debut appearance in the goal in 2004. Hammer tallied two goals in his five games in Long Island.

The Bayhawks were the MLL Champions in 2002 and have made the MLL playoffs in every season of the League's operation.
