Detroit Shock News Release
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. --- On Friday, July 1, the Detroit Shock will give "Bad Girls" posters to the first 3,000 fans through the doors of The Palace of Auburn Hills, courtesy of Co/Op Services Credit Union.
The Bad Girls poster, features Kara Braxton, Ruth Riley, Cheryl Ford, and Barb Farris in a remake of the classic Bad Boys photo of Rick Mahorn and Bill Laimbeer. The original Bad Boys photo, which became an instant classic with Pistons fans, was done by photographer Mark Seliger and first appeared in the May 4, 1989 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.
When asked about the poster, the four players had similar responses:
Riley: "GRRRR!"
Braxton: "LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Ford: "GET OUTTA MY FACE!"
Farris: "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKIN' AT?!?!"
To get into the spirit of "the badness", fans that wear black on Friday will receive 50% off of any ticket they purchase. Fans will also be able to purchase the same "Bad Girls" t-shirts that the girls wear in the photo, in the Palace Locker Room Store. The game against the Sacramento Monarchs tips off at 7:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Shock Fest will begin at 5:30 p.m. in The Palace parking lot.
Detroit Shock giveaways will continue throughout the season, including: July 17th - Ruth Riley Jersey, July 31st - Cheryl Ford Mustang Bobblehead, August 7th - WNBA CD Case, and August 21st - Shock Drawstring Backpack.
The Shock are currently alone in third place in the Eastern Conference (6-5) and recently came back from a 25-point first half deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Sparks, 79-73 on Sunday.
