B-Sens Open Pre-Season with Shootout Victory over Bears

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators defeated the Hershey Bears 4-3 in a shootout in their pre-season opener Wednesday. Jakob Silfverberg and Mika Zibanejad each scored a goal and added an assist in regulation.

Tyler Eckford gave the B-Sens the lead at 13:49 of the first. Zibanejad stretched the lead to 2-0 with a goal at 15:17 of the same period.

Barry Almeida got the Bears on the board at 14:36 of the second period, but Silfverberg put the B-Sens back ahead by two with a shorthanded tally at the 18:09 mark.

The Bears went on to erase the two-goal deficit in the third period as Adam Comrie and Joel Champagne potted goals at 1:44 and 8:32 respectively.

The game would progress to a shootout. B-Sens forwards Silfverberg, Mark Stone and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each scored on Bears' netminder Phillip Grubauer.

Robin Lehner tended goal for Binghamton turning aside 28 of the 31 shots faced in regulation.

The B-Sens pre-season schedule continues Friday as they travel to Hershey to face the Bears at 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM). Voice of the B-Sens Grady Whittenburg will have the call beginning 15 minutes before game time as he hosts Countdown to Faceoff.
