Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

In the 18th Opening Day in Binghamton team history, the B-Mets pulled off a come-from-behind victory to better the Trenton Thunder

Waterfront Park was the site of Binghamton's 12th Opening Day victory in team history. The B-Mets are now 12-6 on Opening Day. Centerfielder Emmanuel Garcia led the way with three hits including the game-winning single in the top of the ninth.

After eight innings the Thunder and the B-Mets were all square at three. Left-hander Michael Dunn, pitching in his second inning of relief gave up a leadoff double to designated hitter Caleb Stewart, putting the go-ahead run on base. After rightfielder Carl Loadenthal singled and moved to second on an error by leftfielder Colin Curtis, Garcia landed a bloop single in centerfield to plate Stewart and give Binghamton a 4-3 lead.

The B-Mets tacked on an insurance run when catcher Josh Thole rode a Dunn pitch to right field for a base hit to bring home Loadenthal. Thole went 2-4 with two singles and an RBI.

19-year old shortstop Ruben Tejada went 2-4 with two RBI-singles in his first AA game and third baseman Shawn Bowman went 2-5 with two infield singles and an RBI.

Binghamton takes on the Thunder in the second game of the four-game series tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Dylan Owen will get the call for the B-Mets and will be opposed by RHP George Kontos of Trenton. The radio broadcast on Newsradio 1290 WNBF begins at 6:50 for the pre-game show.
