Axemen Add Dual-Threat Quarterback
November 18, 2014 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Minnesota Axemen News Release
Bemidji, MN - The Bemidji Axemen have added a quarterback to the roster with signing of E.J. White.
With a pressing need at the quarterback position, the Axemen seem to have found their diamond in the rough with White (6'1, 185). Having been known as a dual-threat quarterback, White brings dynamic playmaking ability to the Axemen offense.
"In the IFL, a dual threat quarterback is the key to success," Axemen head coach Dixie Wooten stated. "EJ brings that, and more, to the table."
White made a name himself while playing collegiately at the University of St. Francis. As a fifth-year senior for the Fighting Saints, white set many career records at St. Francis including passing yards (10,053), rushing yards (2,927), passing touchdowns (103), and completions (844). He also holds numerous season records including most passing yards in a single season (3,344), most passing touchdowns in a season (34), and most passing completions in a season (268).
"At St. Francis, it seemed that all he did was win big games," Wooten reflected. "He put up some outstanding numbers both in the air and on the ground. We are proud to have EJ as a part of the Axemen family."
White started all 46 games during his collegiate career, leading the Fighting Saints to a 30-16 records, the program's best four-year spread in the 26-year history of football at the University of St. Francis. In 2011, he commandeered the Fighting Saints to their first playoff win and spot in the NAIA quarterfinals.
Most recently, White played for the Uppsala 86ers in Sweden.
The Bemidji Axemen kick off their season in February of 2015 on Palace Casino Field at the Sanford Center. Season tickets are now on sale starting as low as $56 each and can be purchased online through www.bemidjiaxemen.com. For more information, please contact the Axemen offices as (218)444-8216.
