Brooklyn Aviators News Release
The Week That Was: The Brooklyn Aviators went 1-1-1 last week to see their record move to 3-2-3 on the season.
The club started the three games in three days with a 6-5 overtime loss to the Vermont Wild on Thursday night at the Aviator Sports and Events Center. Aviators forward Chris Jones led the way offensively for Brooklyn with two goals and an assist, however it was not enough as the Wild scored halfway through the overtime session to win their first game as a FHL franchise.
Brooklyn stormed back on Friday night with a 6-1 road victory over the Cape Cod Bluefins at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center. Goalie Pete Dundovich stopped 50 of 51 shots to earn his first win in an Aviators jersey, while Chris Ferazzoli and Jordan Bernier both had two goals in the team's first victory over the Bluefins this season.
The Aviators then played host to the Danbury Whalers on Saturday night for the first time this season, but it was Danbury skating away with a 3-2 victory over Brooklyn. Steve Mallaro's late goal and Greg Holt's marker and two assists helped the Whalers push past the Aviators at the Aviator Sports and Events Center.
Where They Stand: The Aviators are currently in fourth place with their 3-2-3 record, which gives them 12 points on the campaign. Brooklyn sits six points behind the 1000 Islands Privateers, Akwesasne Warriors and New Jersey Outlaws, who all have 18 on the season, but three points ahead of Danbury, who have nine.
The Week Ahead: Brooklyn hits the road on Wednesday night to take on the Whalers at 7:35 pm at the Danbury Ice Arena. The Aviators then return home on Friday for a matchup with the Cape Cod Bluefins at 7:35 pm before squaring off with the expansion Danville Dashers at 7:05 pm on Saturday.
Team Leaders: Ferazzoli currently leads all Aviators with 15 points, and his seven goals and eight assists also are atop all Brooklyn skaters this season. Vladimir Nikiforov is right behind Ferazzoli with 12 points (6g/6a) and Bernier is third on the club with eight points (6g/2a).
