Brooklyn Aviators News Release

BROOKLYN, New York - The Brooklyn Aviators knocked off the first place 1000 Islands Privateers 5-2 on Wednesday night at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Federal Hockey League action.

Five different A's registered goals in the contest, as Brooklyn handed the Privateers their second loss of the season.

Chris Ferazzoli gave Brooklyn the 1-0 lead at the 4:40 mark of the first period on his eighth goal of the year. Jordan Bernier found Ferazzoli breaking towards the slot all alone and fed him with a pass. The Floral Park, NY product slipped the puck under the right pad of Privateers netminder, Matt Anthony, to give the Aviators the early edge.

Brooklyn then scored two unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead halfway through the middle frame. In his first game as an Aviator, Jason Dolgy collected his sixth marker of the season on the power play at the 12:48 spot to put his new team up 2-0. Casey Mignone gave the Aviators a 3-0 edge on his fifth tally of the year just 29-seconds later. Jeff Wincherster finally got the Privateers on the board after his second goal of the season beat Aviators netminder Jo St. Pierre over the right shoulder, but it was Brooklyn skating into the second intermission up 3-1.

The Aviators jumped to a 4-1 lead early in the third period as Matt Atsoff registered his first pro goal at the 6:36 mark. The UMASS-Boston product put home a one timer in front to put the A's back up by three. Tyler Fernandez quickly made it a two-goal deficit again for 1000 Islands on his third goal of the season, but Vladimir Nikiforov iced it late with an empty net goal, 5-2.

St. Pierre made 22 saves shots en route to his first victory of the season, while Anthony turned side 30 shot in the loss.

The Aviators will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday before heading to New Jersey on Friday night to take on the Outlaws. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 PM at the Ice Vault in Wayne, NJ, and can be heard live via the FHL Broadcast Network, powered by LiveSportsVideo.com.
