LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Lafayette Aviators are partnering with Lafayette Lions Club to host their First Annual Community Field Day, April 14th at Historic Loeb Stadium from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The event is part of the Lafayette Lions Fun Days event series. With activities such as carnival-inspired games, ballpark food, MLB sponsored Junior Home Run Derby and Pitch Hit & Run competitions, and an opportunity for adults to get in on the Pitch Hit & Run activities, this event is sure to be a hit for those of all ages.
Activities at the event will include a photo area where fans can pose for pictures with props, Melvyn the Lion and Aviator's Mascot, Ace, plus a variety of carnival-themed games. Winners from the games will be rewarded with prizes such as Aviators tickets, merchandise, and prizes from the Lions Club.
"As Lafayette's team, the community is such an important part of our success. We're thrilled to be able to partner with the Lions Club to put on this free event to give back to those that support us and help get everyone excited for the upcoming final season of Loeb Stadium," said Aviators General Manager, Zach Chartrand.
In addition to the various field day activities, the Aviators will be hosting MLB Sponsored Junior Home Run Derby and Pitch Hit & Run competitions. These competitions are an opportunity for Greater Lafayette area boys and girls (ages 7-14) to compete with their peers by showing off their baseball and softball skills. Winners will be invited to compete in the Junior Home Run Derby and Pitch Hit & Run Sectional and Regional Competitions, with an opportunity to advance to National Finals during Major League Baseball All-Star Week. After the youth competition has concluded, the adults will be invited to show what they've got, as well.
Those interested in attending the event or competing in the Junior Home Run Derby and Pitch Hit & Run competitions should contact the Aviators for additional information. Additional details will be announced as the event draws closer.
