Edmonton Aviators News Release

Edmonton, April 8, 2004 - Today, the Edmonton Aviators announced the 2004 schedule for both their Men's A-League and Women's W-League teams.

The schedule will see the Aviators Men's team play 28 regular season games. They will open the season on the road in Vancouver on April 30th. The Women's squad will play 14 regular season games and open two weeks later in Arizona. The first home game for both teams will take place on May 30th with an afternoon doubleheader at Commonwealth Stadium. The Aviators Women's team will take to the field against Arizona at 2:00 pm, with the Men's team playing at 4:30 against Minnesota.

In total there will be 14 Aviators home dates at Commonwealth Stadium, with 6 of these dates being doubleheaders featuring both the Men's and Women's teams. In an effort to promote and encourage regional fan development, one of the Aviators W-League teams' home games will be played in another western Canadian city. The Aviators are currently negotiating arrangements and an announcement is expected shortly.

The delays in finalizing the schedule have been due to the fact that proposed Aviators home games conflicted with the Edmonton Eskimos' schedule as well as other events taking place at Commonwealth Stadium. The Aviators home is a shared facility and many scheduling changes involved negotiations and discussions with other USL teams as well as the League.

"We are very pleased to finally be able to release our schedule for the upcoming USL season. It has taken a lot of work, patience and co-operation between us, Commonwealth Stadium, the USL and other teams," said Wylie Stafford, President of the Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club. "Our schedule will provide us some challenges and is certainly not ideal in our first year of operation. However, we are optimistic that if we work hard to field two highly competitive teams, this community will show us the strong support that our other professional sports teams have come to enjoy." said Stafford.

Aviators Season Tickets are available by calling (780) 424-KICK (5425) or by visiting the Aviators website at www.aviatorssoccer.com.

"Training camp opens Monday and we are really excited about the teams we have put together. We look forward to showing Edmonton some great soccer talent." said Stafford. The Aviators will require lots of support from the corporate community, the soccer community and the general public. We know that we will need to earn our communities respect and we look forward to the opportunity to do so."

The Edmonton Aviators are the newest addition to Edmonton's professional sports scene. Both the Aviators Men's and Women's soccer teams will play in the United Soccer Leagues. Additional information can be found by visiting the Aviators website at www.aviatorssoccer.com.
