Lafayette Aviators News Release

The Lafayette Aviators took the field for the first time this season in a 13-8 losing effort against the Terre Haute Rex.

Rain showers delayed the first pitch by an hour and a half, and the two teams felt each other out in the scoreless first inning. The Rex exploded in the second and third innings for seven runs, due to four Lafayette errors.

The score would read 9-2 by the top of the 6th inning when the Aviators' bats finally caught fire for a bit, scoring four runs and narrowing the gap to 3. Terre Haute's offense, however, remained powerful. The 7th inning saw the teams trade two runs each before the Rex tacked on two more for good measure in the 9th, bringing the final tally to 13-8.

Bryce Ball was a bright spot for the Aviators, getting on base in three of his four at-bats and scoring each time. Jordan Patty and Matthew Patton also batted in two runs each. The two teams will play again tomorrow in Terre Haute at 7:05 pm.
