Aviators Fall on Brief Trip Home
July 23, 2018 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Lafayette Aviators News Release
The Lafayette Aviators 1-game home stand before a five-game road trip was a disappointing one, ending in an 8-5 loss.
The two teams kept it close for the first half of the game, with only one run scored by the end of the 4th inning. The Dans started to pick up on the offensive end around this time, registering triples in back-to-back innings in the 3rd and 4th.
In the 5th, Danville exploded with four runs, widening the gap to five. They'd score another two in the 6th before Lafayette was able to respond with their first.
The Aviators would rally late, scoring two runs in the 8th, and another two runs in the 9th after loading the bases. Despite adding those runs late in the game, the Aviators could not create enough offense to walk away with the win.
The Aviators will play their next game in Kokomo against the Jackrabbits on Tuesday, first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
