Austin's Curtis Jerrells Named Performer Of The Week

NEW YORK, March 22, 2010 - Austin Toros guard Curtis Jerrells was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of March 15. The award is the second for Jerrells' this year, and the third time a Toro has been honored this season.

Jerrells, 6-1, 195-pounds, led the Toros to a 2-1 record last week, including road victories over the Dakota Wizards and Bakersfield Jam. For the week, Jerrells averaged 32.7 points, shooting 56 percent (37-of-66) from the field, to go with 6.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds.

Jerrells scored more than 30 points in each game last week, including a 33-point, 10-assists double-double in Austin's 118-113 road win over the Bakersfield Jam on March 20. The previous night, Jerrells scored 30 points and pulled down seven boards in his team's 120-108 loss to the Jam. Earlier in the week, Jerrells matched his season high when he scored 35 points to go with seven assists and five rebounds in the Toros' 114-113 win over the Wizards in Bismarck.

A 2010 NBA D-League All-Star, Jerrells has appeared in 42 games for Austin this season and is averaging 20.5 points (7th in the NBA D-League), 5.7 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 39.7 minutes (third e NBA D-League) this season.

Other top performers last week included Erie's Blake Ahearn, who averaged 29.7 points and 7.3 assists in three games for the BayHawks; Bakersfields' Alade Aminu, who averaged 15.3 points and 14.7 rebounds in three games for the Jam; Iowa's Earl Barron, who averaged 21.3 points and 11.0 rebounds in three games for the Energy; Reno's Rod Benson, who averaged 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in two games for the Bighorns; Rio Grande Valley's Mike Harris, who averaged 30.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in two games for the Vipers; Sioux Falls' Alexander Johnson, who averaged 20.0 points and 7.3 rebounds in four games for the Skyforce; Austin's Dwayne Jones, who averaged 17.3 points and 18.0 rebounds in three games for the Toros; Fort Wayne's Oliver Lafayette, who averaged 23.3 points and 8.7 assists in three games for the Mad Ants; Fort Wayne's Sean Sonderleiter, who averaged 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games for the Mad Ants; Iowa's Curtis Stinson, who averaged 14.7 points and 16.0 assists in three games for the Energy; and Tulsa's Latavious Williams, who averaged 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games for the 66ers.
