AUSTIN, Tex. (April 29, 2009) - Turfcats Defensive Lineman Kevin Earvine has been named the Southern Indoor Football League's VIDSWAP.COM com player of the week by virtue of his performance and fan vote.

Earvine had two tackles for safeties, several sacks, tackles for losses and stayed in the Houma backfield in a 64-32 win over the Conquerors at Terrebonne-Houma Civic Center. Earvine received 36% of the votes and teammate Deron Ellis gathered 13% of the van votes on the Vidswap.com Player of The Week poll at southernifl.com. Second in voting was Louisiana Swashbucklers QB Freddie Harrison with 35% of the vote.

"It is a great honor for me and the Austin franchise to receive this award," said Earvine. "We had a game plan for the Houma game and the players executed it like the coaches had instructed us to."

"I told him to keep the pressure on the quarterback all night," said Turfcats Head Coach Chris Duliban. "He stayed in their backfield all night and he was not be denied by the Conquerors."

Each SIFL game has four MVPs for offensive, defensive, line and special teams. Two game MVPS are selected for balloting for the league-wide MVP by fans at the official league website at www.southernifl.com.

The Texas Pirates host the Louisiana Swashbucklers on Saturday. The Austin Turfcats (1-1) have a bye this week and return to action on May 9th versus the undefeated Louisiana Swashbucklers at Adfirmative.com Field at the Travis County Expo Center for a 6:30 p.m. CST kickoff.
