Austin Bold FC Signs Austin Standout Roberto Avila

AUSTIN, TX - Austin Bold FC is excited to announce the signing of 18-year old local Austin area standout, Roberto Avila to an academy player contract for the 2019 USL Championship season. Avila joins fellow Bold academy player, Julian Gaines in Austin Bold FC's commitment to giving Austin area youth players a pathway to a professional career.

Despite his young age, Avila shined at multiple youth teams throughout Texas including Houston Dynamo and U.S. Soccer Development Academy Lonestar SC. In the 2018/19 season, Avila demonstrated his scoring prowess with 12 goals in 17 matches with Lonestar SC. The Austin native describes his style of play as relaxed on the ball with intermittent quick bursts of speed.

"Creating local ties and giving the opportunity for local players to develop is an important part of the Austin Bold mission. Beto Avila, besides being a local product, had immense potential to be a great professional payer," said Austin Bold FC General Manager Roberto Silva.

With parents from Guerrero, Mexico, Avila is a first generation American born and raised in the Austin area with his three brothers. He attended East View High School in Georgetown, TX before transitioning to an online curriculum for his junior and senior year. Off the pitch, Avila enjoys watching his younger brother and spending time at the park with his family's dog.

"I'm excited to play with big-time pros who played around the world and have the chance to train with them daily and get to learn from them...It feels good to get to represent your city," said Avila. Roberto Avila joins other local players Sonny Guadarrama and Kris Tyrpak on the Austin Bold FC roster.
