NEW HAMPSHIRE RECAP The Sea Dogs alternated wins and losses throughout the week in Manchester, eventually splitting the series 3-3 with a 9-6 win on Sunday. Sunday's game featured Mason White's first career two-homer game plus a home run from Will Turner. Ronald Rosario also had a multi-hit game. The week was highlighted by a 15-4 win on Wednesday, the highest run total of the season in a single game. On that day, Tyler McDonough hit two home runs in an eight-run ninth inning, the first Sea Dog to do so since at least 2005. The lowlight of the week was a 14-0 shutout loss on Saturday. Miguel Bleis led the Sea Dogs offense with a .438 (7-for-16) batting average, with two home runs and six RBI.
THIRD TIMES THE CHARM With home runs from Mason White (2) and Will Turner (1) on Sunday, the Sea Dogs have hit three or more home runs in a game 18 times this season. Since at least 2005, the Sea Dogs have never hit three or more home runs in a game more than 13 times in a season, last done in 2022. Only Reading (19) has more three-homer games than Portland in 2026.
BRANNON BOMBS Brooks Brannon hit his team-leading 18th home run of the season on Friday night. His .559 SLG% is best among active qualified players in the Eastern League. His .915 OPS is the second best mark.
LOOK OUT FOR LIENDO Ahbram Liendo is on a seven-game hit streak and a 17-game on-base streak. Liendo has reached base in 44 of his last 48 games dating back to May 29th, including a season-high 25 game on-base streak (5/29-7/2). Since May 29th, Liendo is batting .299 (41-for-137) with a .862 OPS. He has 34 RBI, seven doubles, five home runs, 23 walks and 11 stolen bases in that span.
FACES IN NEW PLACES Today marks the Double-A debut of SS/2B Henry Godbout, the No. 4 prospect in the Red Sox farm system according to MLB.com. Godbout was hit by a pitch and sustained a left hand injury on May 30th. He batted .277 with seven doubles and seven home runs through 34 games with High-A Greenville. After a five-game rehab stint in Single-A Salem, Godbout was assigned to Portland on August 11th.
ABOUT THE RUMBLE PONIES The Sea Dogs have traveled to Binghamton twice this season, going 7-5 in those games, with one series win and one series tie. Binghamton is currently riding a seven-game win streak, and has climbed the standings from 10.0 to 6.0 games back of first place. Infielder Mitch Voit has won back-to-back player of the week awards in his first two weeks in Double-A, batting .550 (22-for-40) with seven doubles, one triple, one home run, nine RBI and six steals.
SUNDAY SPECIAL Sundays have been the winningest day of the week for the Sea Dogs this season. Overall, they are 12-5 on Sundays, going 6-3 on the road and 7-2 at home. The Sea Dogs have won or tied eight straight series.
THIS DAY IN SEA DOGS HISTORY August 11, 2003 - Justin Sherrod hit a two-out, pinch-hit grand slam in the top of the ninth inning to give the Sea Dogs a thrilling 5-3 win at Reading. It was only the third pinch-hit grand slam in Portland franchise history.
ON THE MOUND LHP Dalton Rogers (1-3, 5.14 ERA) is set for his twelfth start and sixteenth appearance of the season for Portland. In his last outing on August 5 against New Hampshire, Rogers allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits and one walk with four strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. Opposing players are batting .224 against Rogers this season. He made one rehab appearance for the FCL Red Sox following a short stint on the injured list on May 19th. Rogers was the Red Sox' third round pick in the 2022 MLB First-Year Players Draft, having previously pitched at the University of Southern Mississippi, Jones College, and Southeastern Louisiana University.
