
Atwood and McAffer Receive WCL Weekly Honors

The West Coast League Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league president Donnie Marbut, are Oregon State frosh infielder Andy Atwood of the Corvallis Knights and South Dakota State frosh right-hander Will McAffer of the Victoria HarbourCats for the week of June 13-19.
McAffer led Victoria to an undefeated week as the first-place HarbourCats extended their win streak to 11 games by going 6-0. McAffer was part of two combined shutouts, earning wins in both games. He started the Cats 2-0 home win over Gresham on Tuesday, June 14 and closed the week with a start in Victoria's 6-0 blanking of Cowlitz at Royal Athletic Park. Over the two starts, McAffer did not allow a single run and allowed only 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 19 over 11.2 innings pitched. For the summer, McAffer is 2-1 with a 1.62 ERA.
Atwood propelled Corvallis to a 5-1 week as the sophomore-to-be went 9-for-18, drew 7 walks, scored 9 runs, stole 3 bases, collected 2 doubles, knocked in 4 and posted an on base percentage of .640. Atwood currently leads the Knights in hitting with a .448 batting average.
At South Dakota State, McAffer made 16 appearances and 8 starts this past spring. He went 2-0, recorded a save and posted a 5.75 ERA for the Jackrabbits.
For the Beavers, Atwood made 22 appearances, 7 starts and hit .211 over 19 at bats.
