Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC attacker Guilherme was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 19, the league announced today. The honor marks the Brazilian All-Star's sixth of the season (Matchday 1, 4, 5, 14 and 18) and his second consecutive selection after being named to the team in Matchday 18. The Brazilian also represented Houston at the 2026 MLS All-Star Game in Charlotte last week.
The Dynamo earned their second consecutive shutout victory after defeating Sporting Kansas City 2-0 on the road Saturday night behind Guilherme's 10th goal of the season and midfielder Agustín Bouzat's first goal of the year. The result marked Houston's sixth clean sheet of the season, while extending their current unbeaten MLS streak to five matches.
Notably, with his goal on Saturday, Guilherme became just the ninth player in MLS history to score or assist on at least 17 of his Club's first 25 goals in a season. He has also scored five goals in the last eight MLS matches, including a goal in back-to-back games, following one versus Austin FC on July 25.
Houston took the lead in the 55th minute when Guilherme, fired a low, long-range shot from the top of the box that skipped under the Sporting goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland and into the back of the net. Midfielder Jack McGlynn notched his fifth assist of the season on the play.
The Dynamo extended their lead in the 71st minute after capitalizing on a Kansas City error, with Bouzat netting his left-footed strike with ease. Calvin Harris was forced into giving the ball away by Houston's high press, allowing the Argentinean to intercept the misplaced pass inside the box before firing his shot into the back of the net.
Houston continue their two-match road trip at Eastern Conference opponent the New England Revolution on Saturday, Aug. 8, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT. Fans can follow the action live via MLS on Apple TV.
