Attack Host Rio Grande Valley Sol in Home Opener Saturday

St. Charles, MO - The St. Louis Attack host the Rio Grande Valley Sol in the Attack's 2015 Home Opener this Saturday evening at 7:35 p.m. at the Family Arena. The Attack are 1-0 after opening the season by defeating the Corpus Christi Fury 34-15 last Sunday in Corpus Christi.

Among the notable returning players for the Attack are DeAndre Jackson, who earned the 2014 X-Dash Player of the Year and All X-League Wide Receiver honors; Mike McMullen, who was named 2014 X-League Offensive Player of the Year and All X-League Quarterback; Marcus Dickinson, who was 2014 X-League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and All X-League Defensive Back; Bernard Quinn who was a 2014 X-League Defensive Lineman; Steven Davis, a 2014 X-League Offensive Lineman; Charles Henry; Chris Cooper; Jason Null, Daryl Grady and Chris Headd. Grady ran for two touchdowns in Sunday's season opener while Headd tallied two touchdowns on receptions.

Attack newcomers include Hazelwood East products Charles Henry and Anthony Jackson, former Francis Howell and Mizzou standout Zack Abron, and Jamaican native Xavier McKenzie, who played last season for the Florida Marine Raiders. Head Coach Chris McKinney, the 2014 X-League Head Coach of the Year is back after leading the club to the only undefeated record in the league last season.

Rio Grande Valley comes to town with a 1-0 record. They overcame a 21-point deficit to defeat the Georgia Rampage 58-53, last Sunday in the Sol's Home Opener. The Sol are new to the X-League this season after one season in the Lone Star Football League, where they compiled an 8-4 record in 2014.

The home opener is sponsored by MERCY, and will include special appearances by St. Louis Rams legend Isaac Bruce and the Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th century, Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Bruce and Joiner-Kersee will present the game balls and be interviewed on the field at halftime.

With a Super Bowl trophy and three gold medals, respectively, Isaac Bruce and Jackie Joyner-Kersee represent the finest in athletic achievement. They also understand the hard work required to realize such success, and have committed as partners to help Mercy Sports Medicine serve athletes and active adults.

Bruce is an All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl selection, He amassed 15,208 receiving yards in his career (fourth all-time). He played the first 14 years with the Rams and won a Super Bowl ring with the team in Super Bowl XXXIV. He also played for the San Francisco 49ers. During his time with the Rams, he was the leading receiver of The Greatest Show on Turf.

Joyner-Kersee is ranked among the all-time greatest athletes in the women's heptathlon as well as in the women's long jump. She won three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals, in those two events at four different Olympic Games. Sports Illustrated for Women magazine voted Joyner-Kersee the Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th century, just ahead of Babe Didrikson Zaharias. After retiring as a competitive athlete, Joyner-Kersee has been involved with many philanthropic efforts and has joined the Board of Directors for USA Track & Field (USATF), the national governing body of the sport.

The Family Arena doors open at 6:00 p.m. Saturday and parking is $20. Following Saturday's Home Opener, the Attack are back in action at the Family Arena next Saturday, April 11, when they host the Bloomington Edge at 7:35 p.m.

The Attack are members of the X-League, with ten teams for 2015. The Attack will play four regular-season home games at the Family Arena. Season, group and individual game tickets are now on sale.
