For Immediate Release 5/5/03

The Atlanta Xplosion (2-0) TERMINATED the Tampa Bay Terminators 25-6 last Saturday evening in St. Petersburg, FL.

The Xplosion Offense- appropriately nicknamed "The Bombsquad"- controlled the 60-minute contest for a whopping 35:16. Captain Sue Cackowski and her lethal receiving corps unleashed 201 yards of aerial assault on Tampa (1-2), while the ATL running machine compiled another 127 yards on the ground. Leading the attack this week were Brenda "B-Love" Cain (3 rec for 75yds, 1TD) and the lightning-fast Charmaine Chin (3 carries for 90yds). Cain provided key catches in the first and fourth quarter on pivotal drives to swing the momentum back to the visitor sideline. "Maine" Chin silenced the Tampa crowd with an unbelievable 55-yard reverse for the back-breaking score with :08 remaining in the opening half.

Atlanta's "Darkside" Defense remained the crown jewel of the IWFL's South Atlantic Division only yielding one score and seven 1st downs all night. The BOOM was lowered by a brick wall charge applying endless pressure to Tampa's talented backfield. Denise "Farah" Beniamino smacked around orange and white for 12 hits- 7 of which were solo. Captain Kiwanii "KK" Gibson maintained her consistent dominance over the middle- totaling 7 hits.

"The coaching staff and players want to thank our beloved fans- From start to finish that "12th Man" (our fans in the stands) was louder than the home side, and we carried almost as many supporters down there as Tampa- that really makes a difference", commented Head Coach M.G. Dawson. "This program is far from being content- each week is a war, and we're blessed to be this healthy. This one's behind us, and now we've turned our complete focus towards Miami."

The Xplosion will now travel to Miami for a battle of undefeated teams with the Fury (2-0) on May 10th.
