Atlanta United 2 News Release
KENNESAW, Ga. - Atlanta United 2 fell 4-0 to Louisville City at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia on Wednesday evening.
Louisville opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Manny Perez found Niall McCabe on the left wing with a diagonal pass from the center circle. McCabe chested the ball down before sending a ball in for captain Paolo DelPiccolo, who headed the visitors into the lead.
Atlanta almost equalized in the 28th minute, as Erik Centeno found Darwin Matheus with a cross into Louisville's six-yard box. Matheus' header forced a diving save out of Louisville goalkeeper Kyle Morton.
McCabe doubled Louisville's advantage in the 52nd minute. The Irishman gathered a lay-off pass from Wilson Harris before finding the left side of the net with a 20-yard strike.
Substitute Jorge Gonzalez scored the third goal for Louisville in the 60th minute. Brian Ownby threaded a through pass into the Atlanta box to find Gonzalez, who chipped his goal over the right foot of an oncoming Vicente Reyes.
Louisville netted the final goal through Napo Matsoso in the 85th minute. Ownby found the run of Matsoso with a cross from the right side, which Matsoso toe-poked into the Atlanta goal from the edge of the six-yard box.
