ATLANTA (March 20, 2002) - The Atlanta Beat, Atlanta's women's pro soccer team, today announced that individual game tickets for all 10 home games will go on sale this Saturday, March 23 at noon EST through TicketMaster. The Beat's season opener against the Philadelphia Charge takes place at Herndon Stadium on Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. EST, in what will be a rematch of the Beat's golden goal overtime victory in the 2001 WUSA semifinal.

This season's family friendly home schedule includes nine out of the ten home games on Saturdays, with one Wednesday game. Tickets for Atlanta Beat home games range in price from $8-$20 and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the TicketMaster number in your area. In Atlanta, call (404) 249-6400 and from outside Atlanta call 1-800-326-4000. Fans can also find a link to TicketMaster on the Beat's web site at www.theatlantabeat.com.

In 2001 the Beat's opening game versus the New York Power drew more than 20,000 fans and the two home games versus Mia Hamm and the Washington Freedom averaged more than 19,000 fans. This season the Beat's new home Herndon Stadium has a maximum seating capacity of 15,011, so purchasing tickets early is encouraged.

A 20% discount is offered for groups of 20 or more in Category II and III seating and children 12 and under can purchase youth tickets for $8. Beat fans under the age of 18 can celebrate their birthdays with 10 or more friends and receive a group discount and goodie bags for the group. Atlanta Beat Season tickets are still on sale and range in price from $88-$396. Season ticket information is available by calling 1-877-SOCCER-1.

Highlights of the Beat's home schedule include a visit by Mia Hamm and the Washington Freedom on Saturday, April 27 at 7p.m. and a visit by Brandi Chastain and the defending WUSA Champion San Jose CyberRays on Saturday, June 22 at 7 p.m. One of the biggest highlights of the 2002 season is the Beat's new home venue, Herndon Stadium.

Herndon Stadium on the campus of Morris Brown College will be the new home of the Atlanta Beat in 2002. The Beat made the move in the off-season after playing one year at Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium, which is undergoing major renovations throughout the summer of 2002. The Beat chose Herndon Stadium as its new home because of the 15,011 seat capacity, which creates an intimate soccer atmosphere, and its downtown location only three blocks from the Georgia Dome, two blocks from MARTA's Vine City (W-2) station and two miles from Bobby Dodd. Herndon Stadium also provides improved parking options, with more than 3,000 parking spots within three blocks of the stadium and shuttle service that will take fans from the Dome directly to the stadium.

The Beat is currently participating in a six-day training camp in Richmond, Va. where the team played the Boston Breakers this morning in a 1-1 tie, and will play the Washington Freedom on Saturday, March 23, and the New York Power on Sunday, March 24. The Beat returns on Sunday and will have three more days of preseason training camp before the final 20-player roster is selected on March 28.

The Atlanta Beat is one of eight professional women's soccer teams that make up the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), the world's premier women's soccer league. In the inaugural 2001 WUSA season, the Beat finished as champions of the regular season and runner-up in the league's championship game, Founders Cup.
