Kingsport, TN - The Greeneville Astros (15-17) were trailing 3-1 through six innings, but rallied to defeat the Kingsport Mets (15-16), 6-3, in 10 innings on Wednesday night at Hunter Wright Stadium. Five of the Astros' runs and seven of their 10 hits came after the sixth inning as they improved to 4-0 in extra-inning games.

Astros center fielder Jason Martin, who had a 16-game hit streak snapped the night before, went three-for-five on the night and led off the first inning with a single. Then, after moving to third with two outs, Martin scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch.

The Astros only managed two more hits until the seventh inning. Meanwhile, the Mets may have only had three hits during the same timeframe, but scored three runs directly off Astros errors.

Two of the Mets' hits, both doubles, came from the reigning Appalachian League Player of the Week, right fielder Wuilmer Becerra. Over his last 10 games, Becerra is batting .486 with four doubles, four homers, and seven RBI.

In the seventh inning, the Astros started to turn the game back in their favor. It began with a leadoff double by Trent Woodward. Then, a Jacob Nottingham RBI on a sacrifice fly pulled the Astros within one.

Still down 3-2 in the eighth inning, the Astros had runners at first and second with one out. Then, Antonio Nunez connected on a RBI single to even the score at 3-3.

Following the eighth inning, Mets' manager Jose Leger and catcher Jose Garcia were ejected by home plate umpire Chris Wood. Then, left fielder Vincente Lupo had the same fate in the bottom of the ninth as the Mets and Astros headed into extra innings.

In the tenth inning, the Astros took off. With one out, a Jason Martin RBI double gave the Astros their first lead since the first inning. Then, Sean McMullen's RBI double followed by a Trent Woodward RBI single gave the Astros a comfortable three-run cushion.

Astros' reliever Angel Heredia (4-1), who pitched the final three innings, ended the Mets' last hope with two ground outs and a pop out to the shortstop to end the game. Heredia earned the win as he held the Mets without a hit or run while walking one and striking out three total.

Heredia combined with Robert Kahana, who started the game, and left-hander Reymin Guduan to pick up 12 strikeouts while holding the Mets to one earned run, three hits, and four walks.

The Astros will return home on Thursday night to complete their split series with the Mets. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
