July 6, 2015 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Greeneville Astros News Release
GREENEVILLE, TN - Greeneville Astros first baseman Connor Goedert has been named the Appalachian League Player of the Week by MiLB.com for the week of June 29-July 5. Over six games during that span, Goedert batted .545 (12-for-22) with six runs scored, two doubles, two homers, 11 RBI, two walks, and a stolen base.
This marks the fifth time in club history the Greeneville Astros have earned league player of the week honors, and it is the first time since shortstop Jonathan Merritt picked up the award during the final week of the 2010 season.
Goedert was originally drafted out of Neosho County Community College (KS) by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the June 2014 draft. After splitting time between Greeneville and the GCL Astros last year, he returned to Greeneville this season and his 20 hits currently lead the Appalachian League. The 21-year-old is also second in the league with a .500 (20-for-40) batting average and 13 RBI on the season. Meanwhile, his OBP (.565), SLG (.800), and OPS (1.365) all have him ranked third.
