
Astros fall to Royals in Burlington

Burlington, NC - The Greeneville Astros (4-6) and Burlington Royals (4-6) began a three-game series on Saturday night at Burlington Athletic Stadium. The Astros took the initial lead in the game, but ultimately were defeated by the Royals 5-1.
After a hitless and scoreless first inning, Trent Woodward led off the second inning for the Astros with a double. Then, with one out, Connor Goedert also doubled to bring Woodward home and give the Astros a 1-0 lead. However, the lead did not last.
In the bottom of the second, the Royals got a leadoff single from Brandon Dulin, and Riley King followed with a walk to get two runners on base. Then, Meibrys Viloria hit a three-run homer to right field to put the Royals on top 3-1.
In the fifth inning, the Royals added to their lead with a Chase Vallot RBI single. Then, with the bases loaded in the sixth and no outs, Riley King scored the final run of the night on a ground out by Ryan Dale.
The Royals concluded the night with five runs on seven hits. Meanwhile, the Astros had three hits for doubles, but finished with just one run on four hits.
The winning pitcher for the Royals was reliever Julio Pinto, who pitched four scoreless innings to finish the game and gave up one hit, walked three, and struck out two.
The Astros face the Royals in game two of their three-game series on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
