Astros blast Cardinals, 6-4

Greenville, TN- The fans in Greeneville have come to expect nine innings of hard work from their Astros and the people were not disappointed as Greeneville defeated the Johnson City Cardinals 6-4 by taking their only lead of the game in the eighth inning on a two run home run by CF Mitch Einertson, his league leading 18th of the year and ties him for 7th all-time in a single season in the Appalachian League. Johnson City put one run across in the third through fifth innings to take an early 3-0 lead. However, the Astros would tie it in the home half of the fifth on a wild pitch, Einertson RBI double, and a bases loaded walk by 1B Ole Sheldon. In the sixth, the teams would trade runs with a home run by Cardinals LF Michael Miller and a RBI single by Astros DH Antonio Garcia. The game would remained knotted at four until Einertson's blast in the bottom of the eighth. RP Matt O'Donnell moved his record to a perfect 3-0 in 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball while RP Enyelbert Soto came in to close the ninth perfectly for his league leading 11th save of the year.

The Greeneville Astros and Johnson City Cardinals face off again tomorrow at Pioneer Park starting at 7:00 PM with the gates opening at 6:00. Astros gym bags will be handed out when the gates open while supplies last. There will be a fireworks show following Tuesday's game which is Fan Appreciation Night and the Astros final regular season home game. Tickets are still available for all remaining Astros home games.
