Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS - For the first time in team history, the Grand Rapids Rampage's coaching staff will remain in tact for a second straight season. The Rampage re-signed Rod Miller to serve as the team's football operations manager and assistant coach next year. He will join Steve Thonn, head coach and director of football operations; Ron Selesky, defensive coordinator and director of player personnel; Darrin Kenney, offensive and defensive line coach; and Paul Reinke, special teams and fullbacks/linebackers coach; for a second year in Grand Rapids.
"Not only is it great to have Rod back, but it's great to have the entire staff back together for another year," said Thonn. "Rod helped in so many areas including special teams, but he was a tremendous asset to the entire team as a whole."
Along with the rest of the coaching staff, Miller helped lead Grand Rapids to an American Conference Championship berth, marking only the second time in team history in which the Rampage reached the Arena Football League's semifinal round. He was a key contributor to Grand Rapids' special teams units that ranked third in kickoff return yards average (18.5) and fourth in yards allowed per kickoff return (16.4). Meanwhile, Chris Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named to the AFL's All-Rookie Team after leading the league with six kickoffs returned for touchdowns.
Miller also assisted in coaching Grand Rapids' fullbacks along with performing various operations tasks last season. He will be entering his third year as an AFL coach, having spent the 2006 season with the Kansas City Brigade.
