November 8, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Question from Billy, Baltimore, MD: "How do you feel about the start of the ABA season so far?"
Answer: Billy. Thanks for the question. We've had about 10-11 games thus far with this coming weekend being the first full weekend of games. For the most part, the games have been pretty competitive (a couple of lop-sided scores), the quality of play and players have been exceptional (outstanding talent this year), there have been a couple of upsets already, and a couple of teams have shown surprising strength. Several of the games were in our expansion cities and from all indications, the fans absolutely loved the ABA style of fast-paced, high scoring basketball and we think crowds will pick-up quickly when word spreads. And like anything new, we have some tweaking to do to make some things smoother in travel, game operations, shoot-arounds, etc. Overall, we are very happy with the way the season has started and believe that it will be a great season. Afterall, for $5, $10, $15 - you get a tremendous evening of exciting professional basketball and top flight entertainment. You really can't beat it. If you have a question, email joenewman@abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
