April 29, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Question from Tom W from Little Rock (one of many similar): "Why did the ABA leave Little Rock, Arkansas? The RimRockers were league champions, attendance was great for the first season."

Answer: Tom and others. I have been asked this question repeatedly since the announcement was made that Arkansas was leaving the ABA for the "other" league. Arkansas left for "personal" reasons. The ABA considered Little Rock (and Arkansas) to be one of its premiere markets; the support from the fans of Arkansas for the ABA was extraordinary. I have had many, many emails asking the ABA to return there. We are ready to return to Little Rock with an ABA team and as soon as we find an ownership group, we will return there and bring the excitement of ABA professional basketball at affordable prices back. If you have a question, please email joenewman@abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
