-Altitude breaks century mark for the first time this season-

ASHEVILLE, N.C., March 19, 2002 – The Asheville Altitude broke the century mark for the first time this season, rolling past the Huntsville Flight 101-88 in NBDL action Tuesday night. The game also concluded the six game series between the two teams, with Asheville winning the last two meetings to even things up at three games apiece.

"We are playing the type of basketball right now that is really exciting," said Altitude head coach Joey Meyer, who was ejected in the third quarter after picking up his second technical foul. "I can't remember the last time we won four games in a row, but it sure feels good."

Asheville (25-29) placed five players in double-figures, including 19 points apiece from Chris Carrawell and Lee Scruggs. Carrawell scored 14 in the first half, connecting on 7-of-7 from the field, pacing the Altitude to a 56-39 lead at halftime.

In addition to Carrawell and Scruggs, Asheville also got scoring contributions from John Coker (16 points), Paul Grant (15 points) and Anthony Blakes (11 points).

"Tonight, everything was going my way," said Carrawell. "My teammates were finding me in open spaces and I was able to knock down some shots to get us going early."

Huntsville (26-29) trailed by as many as 18 points before closing the gap to four points at the end of the third quarter at 75-71. The Flight outscored the Altitude 32-19 in the period, sparked by eight points from Jimmie Hunter and seven from Chris Robinson.

"We played really bad in the first half, but we fought back and made a game of it in the third quarter," said Huntsville head coach Bob Thornton, whose team was eliminated from playoff contention following a loss at N. Charleston on Monday. "The fact that we were knocked out of the playoff race affected us a bit early, but our guys showed that they are professionals and played hard until the end."

The Flight was led in scoring by Hunter's 19 points and Eric Chenowith's 15 points. Kelvin Price chipped in with 14, followed by Chris Robinson with 13 points.

The score read 92-88 with 2:38 remaining in the fourth quarter until Asheville closed the show with a 9-0 run to cruise to the victory.

The Flight returns home on Friday, March 22 to face the Mobile Revelers in their regular season finale, while the Altitude prepares for its final home game on Thursday, March 21 versus the Roanoke Dazzle. Asheville will finish out its regular season on Friday night at Greenville.
