A's Handle Barons in Eighth Straight Win; 4-1

Brooklyn, NY - The New York Aviators defeated the Cape Cod Barons 4-1 on Saturday night in Federal Hockey League action.

The A's have now extended their winning streak to eight straight games, and also picked up their ninth consecutive win on home ice.

New York jumped to an early 1-0 lead after Chris Holmes potted his 11th of the season 3:28 into the first period. Holmes put home Angelo Serse's pass in front to get the A's on the board. Jesse Felten continued his goal scoring streak shortly after on his 14th of the year at the 6:32 mark. Felten deflected Brett Dickinson's shot from the point on the power play, which gives the defenseman four assists in three games for the Aviators.

The man advantage was just that for the A's in the second period, an advantage, as they scored again to take a 3-0 lead. Nick Grove netted his first in a New York Jersey at the 9:46 spot for the only goal scored in the middle frame.

Cape Cod tallied their first goal of the game in the final period to cut the score to 3-1, after Vincent Amigone deflected the puck past A's net minder Kevin Druce. The A's though, would regain their three-goal lead back on a late marker by John Goffredo to secure the Aviators' victory.

Druce picks up his 15th win of the season making 21 saves, while Barons goalie Chris Testa is charged with his sixth loss despite putting aside 32 shots.

With the win, New York moves to 19-12-2 on the year, as Cape Cod falls to 10-10-3 in the defeat.
