A's Fly High Over Whalers, 7-0; Even Series at 2-2

(Danbury, CT) With their record-breaking season on the line Saturday night in Danbury, the Aviators were faced with a must-win situation. Thanks to a high octane offensive onslaught, the A's were able to do just that, shutting out the Whalers 7-0 in Federal Hockey League Playoff action. Scoring first for the Aviators was Matt Puntureri (John Goffredo, Andrew Scampoli) with the man advantage at 8:56 in the first. The second stanza saw three goals from the A's, coming first from Scampoli from Michael Thomson and KC Timmons on the powerplay at 1:10. Next in line was Nick Grove (Casey Mignone, Steve Obelnicki) putting the Aviators up 3-0. The A's would finish off the period with another powerplay goal from Puntureri (Grove, Thomson) at 14:33 adding another to New York's tally, 4-0 heading into the final frame. The Aviators proved successful once again on the powerplay as Brett Dickinson (Puntureri, Timmons) lit the lamp at 1:17 in the third. Scampoli added another from Nick Vandenbeld and Jarrett Rush shortly thereafter. Rush (Puntureri) would add another point to his night on the man-advantage at 12:44 to put a cap on the night. Final score, 7-0 Aviators.

Kevin Druce recorded a twenty-two save shutout while Peter Vetri was handed the loss for Danbury.

New York will return to home ice as the decisive game five will be played at Aviator Sports and Events Center at 3:05PM tomorrow afternoon with the winner advancing to the FHL Final versus Akwesasne.
