Armada score a doughnut, while Yuma scores a dozen

The Yuma Scorpions pounded 18 hits and scored 12 runs while the Armada was held to just two hits in a 12-0 Armada loss in front of 1058 at Blair Field in Long Beach on Thursday night. Bud Smith (0-1) was handed the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) in 5 2/3 innings. Chris Klemm and Nick Gross had the only hits for the Armada who dropped to .500 (4-4) with the loss. Yuma First Baseman Nikolas Klemm hit a three run HR to left field in the 7th inning against Long Beach Pitcher Taylor George to make the game 9-0 to seal the victory for the Scorpions (7-1). Long Beach travels to OC to face the Flyers on Saturday night at 7:05. Listen to the game live for free on the internet via the link on www.longbeacharmada.com.

Notes: Long Beach was shutout for the first time all season and was held to a season low two hits in the loss. Armada DH Jason Mooneyham pitched the ninth inning and gave up an unearned run on one hit. The Armada committed three errors. Armada pitcher Taylor George threw a pitch over the head of Yuma Shortstop Yosvany Almario after Crouch hit his three run HR. Almario took a few steps towards the mound and had some words with George before order was restored.

Yuma Pitcher Steve Soja struck out eight Armada batters to improve to 2-0. Aaron Thorne and Amad Stevens combined with Soja for the Yuma shutout. Yuma Centerfielder Mike Goss went 4-5 with four RBI's.
