Long Beach Armada News Release
The Long Beach Armada opens its fifth season of professional baseball on Thursday with a four-game series in Calgary against the defending North Division Champion Calgary Vipers. Manager Garry Templeton and his coaches have trimmed down from almost 50 invitees at the start of training camp to the 22-man roster. Former National League All-Star Jose Lima headlines a talented roster that also includes former New York Yankee pitcher and Japanese sensation Hideki Irabu.
The Armada opens the season on the road with 10 games in Canada against the Calgary Vipers, Edmonton Capitals and expansion Victoria Seals before returning to the United States.
