Edmonton sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning, starting with a leadoff double by Joey Gomes. Chad Ehrnsberger followed with a bunt single, and two batters later, Matt Ceriani reached base safely on the first of five errors in the inning. The error allowed Gomes to score, and the next batter Mitch Graham's two-run double put the Capitals in front, 3-0. When the dust cleared after the second inning, seven different Capitals reached base safely and score in the seven-run, six-hit, five-error inning.
Graham finished the night three-for-five with two doubles and four runs batted in for the Capitals.
