Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Monday the signing of defenseman Chris McKay to a one-year contract, pending league approval. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Chris is definitively a big part of this team and we're very pleased to be bringing him back," said Hamley. "He's not flashy, but he gets the job done on the floor. He's a hard working player with a bright future in this league and we're proud to have him on the Sting."

Last season, his second in the NLL, McKay registered 1G-7A-8P in 13 games with Arizona. The 26-year old also scooped up 86 loose balls on the year, a total that ranked him fourth on the team.

"I'm excited to be coming back to the Sting for another season," said McKay. "We've been close to winning it all the last couple of years and I really believe that this will be the season that everything comes together and we take home the Champion's Cup."

As a rookie in 2005, McKay scored 4 goals and dished out 8 assists for 12 points in 13 games. A two-time Mann Cup Champion as a member of his hometown Victoria Shamrocks (WLA), the 5'10", 180 lb. defender was acquired by the Sting on January 7, 2005 in a trade that sent a second-round draft pick to the Rochester Knighthawks. Originally drafted by the Vancouver Ravens in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2004 NLL Entry Draft, McKay has totaled 26GP-5G-15A-20P-10PIM-119LB thus far in his pro career.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at the Glendale Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
