GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting General Manager and Head Coach Bob Hamley announced today that the Sting have acquired defenseman Mike Grimes from Boston in exchange for forwards Andrew Lazore and Mark Tinning.
Grimes had been selected by Boston with the 11th pick in the NLL Expansion draft on Tuesday, as the franchise was allowed to pick one player from each of the 13 returning member clubs. He now returns to the team that drafted him with the 6th overall pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft.
"We are thrilled to be able to re-acquire Mike. He is one of the best young defenders in our league," said Hamley. "At the same time we are giving Andrew and Mark an opportunity to play regularly for Boston and we wish them both the best of luck."
Grimes, a native of Peterborough, Ontario, finished the 2007 season with one goal, three assists, 38 loose balls and 13 PIM in 11 games during his rookie year with the Sting.
