TORONTO - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today they have signed American DB Chris Steele, American DB Leonard Johnson, and American WR Justin Marshall.
Steele, 23, spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Calgary Stampeders in 2023 and Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 but didn't see any game action at these stops. The 6'1, 190lb DB attended the University of Southern California from 2019-2021 where he recorded 94 tackles, three for loss, three interceptions, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble in 29 games for the Trojans. The California native was named Second-Team All Pac-12 in 2020.
Johnson, 25, played with the New York Giants from March to July after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. The 6'4, 195lb Alabama native attended Duke University from 2017-2021 where he tallied 165 tackles, 10 for loss, two sacks, six interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 47 games.
Marshall, 24, signed with the Argos in October after practice rosters around the league expanded. The 6'3, 210lb receiver spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks before his move to the Argos. The Georgia native attended the University at Buffalo in 2022 where he led the team in receiving with 64 receptions for 837 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games. Attended the University of Louisville from 2017-2021 where he caught 37 passes for 544 yards and one touchdown in 37 games for the Cardinals.
