
Arena Football League Expands Front Office

TULSA, Okla. - After adding sports marketing specialist, Stuart Layne, as the Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer in September, the Arena Football League office expanded yet again.
After striking a partnership with NFL Network in November, adding an enhanced 18-game schedule and expanding to 18 teams; the league hired Christie Cook, Director of Team Services; Evan Vladem, Manager of Media Services and Public Relations; Marissa Merritt, Media Support; and Sarah Brown, Manager of Marketing and Client Services.
Cook adds nine years of experience with the AFL and af2. Cook, a graduate from the University of Oklahoma, previously served as the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz General Manager from 2007-10. She began her career in the AFL as an intern with the Austin Wranglers in 2000.
Vladem joins the Arena Football League after working on the Public Relations Staff for the Tampa Bay Storm in 2010. Vladem, a graduate from the University of Florida, also worked on the Public Relations Staff for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL in 2008-09 and on the NFL's Public Relations Staff during Super Bowl XLIII, XLIV and the 2010 Pro Bowl.
Merritt served as the Media Relations Intern for the Arena Football League in 2010. A graduate from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Journalism, Merritt served as the Vice President of Public Relations at University Programs. Merritt also assisted KHOG, an ABC affiliate in Northwest Arkansas, with Operations.
Brown, a graduate from Oklahoma State University, served as the Manager of Downtown Development for the Tulsa metro Chamber of Commerce and the Director of Community Relations and Special Events for Engine Room Public Relations in 2010. From 2007-10, Brown was the Director of Marketing for Downtown Tulsa Unlimited.
The Arena Football League is set to kick-off Friday, March 11, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. on the NFL Network.
