
Arena Football League Announces Lowa Rampage Team Franchise

Today, the Arena Football League (AFL) announced the lowa Rampage as the newest league addition in the Council Bluffs area.
The franchise will be owned by Trevor Burdett, and the team will play all its home games in the 30,000 square feet arena in Mid-American Center. It has become the entertainment and corporate meetings hub, linking the Council Bluffs and Omaha area to live entertainment, sporting events, and more.
"I love the excitement around Arena Football coming back to the Council Bluffs area. I can't wait to see the new team and witness their incredible journey," says Commissioner Lee Hutton.
As part of the AFL's new team franchise, Brandon Henderson Sr. will be appointed as the team's head coach. Henderson's coaching journey includes stints as a defensive back coach for multiple high schools, including Ruskin High School, William Chrisman and Bishop Ward High School. Most recently, he was the defensive back coach for the powerhouse Staley High School. His coaching philosophy revolves around discipline, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Matthew Wells will serve as the assistant head coach. Wells previously served as a DL/OL coach at Florida Central Tech in 2020 and 2021.During 2017-2020, he was the Co-Owner and Director at Scouting for Global Professional Football Scouting where he handled player marketing, recruitment, contract negotiations, combines as well as various indoor/arena leagues overseas.
The announcement comes on the heels of the AFL's unveiling of the ongoing market team franchise which includes Rapid City Marshals, Albany Firebirds, Washington, Orlando Predators, Billings Outlaws and West Texas Desert Hawks.
Kickoff for the first official league game has been scheduled for April 2024.
