Are You the 6th Man?

February 11, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): Are you the Mill Rats 6th Man? At Thursday's 7PM game against the Island Storm, the Saint John Mill Rats will be releasing "I Am The Mill Rats 6th Man" limited edition playoff t-shirts.

In basketball the 6th man is they key guy coming off the bench to help the team win. In an allegorically sense, the fans are the greater "6th Man" helping the team win by cheering loudly. For Saint John, it has a much more profound meaning. This fall a local community group invested in the team and took the name 6th Man Inc. In a broader sense, all of folks who sponsor the team, buy tickets, or buy merchandise, are the Mill Rats 6th Man.

Feel Free to Give Us a Hand!

So get out to the game on Thursday night at Harbour Station to watch us play the #1 ranked Island Storm, and pick up your 6th Man T-Shirt for $12! Bring a friend too!

Thursday will also mark the return of Anthony Anderson aka 'Double A' from a calf injury suffered back in February. Last year's NBL Canada MVP will be a welcome addition to club that has won 5 of it's last 6 games, and is peaking at the right time.

Saint John was recently battered by severe snow storms, but Thursday night the Saint John Mill Rats will look to weather a different kind of storm, the #1 ranked Island Storm from Charlottetown, PEI.

"No question if we any dreams of getting to the NBL Canada Finals, you have to measure yourself against the team that's been there the last two seasons," said Mill Rats President & General Manager Ian McCarthy. "We'll be ready for the challenge."
