(TORONTO, ON) - The Toronto Lynx is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Kovacs to the position of Director of Business Development. Kovacs is well known in the Ontario soccer community having played pro soccer in the National Soccer League in mid 70's to the early 90's. With two degrees in Economics and Business Administration from York University together with his extensive experience in the marketing industry and most recently with Bounce Sports Media Inc., Kovacs will be an exceptional asset to the Toronto Lynx in their goal to establish a strong financial base for growing pro soccer in Toronto.

Duncan Wilde, the Director of the Toronto Lynx Premier Soccer Academy has a lot to smile about when it comes to the Toronto Lynx Juniors' 2004 season. The U15, U16, U17 and U19 clubs all performed amazingly well in the Super Y-League and were feted on Saturday September 18th at the annual awards banquet.
Brett Mosen, the head coach of the U15 Toronto Lynx Juniors presented the MVP award to Anthony Doran while Coach George Farrugia of the U16's presented the MVP Award to William Mitchell. Tom Croft, the head coach of the U17 along with Toronto Lynx captain, Shawn Faria made the presentations to this exceptional youth team which has won the Heartland Division of the SYL. Back in the early part of the year they won the Kanata tournament by outscoring the opposition 68-8 and continued this exceptional performance into the Dallas Cup, becoming the first Canadian team to reach the quarterfinals in 10 years. The team was 12-0 in the SYL and had 60-2 goals for-against. In the "Score at the Shore", a heavily college scouted tourney, 31 schools made 92 offers for the players on the U17 Junior Lynx. John Jonke was awarded the MVP award for the 2004 season and will be leading the team to the North American championships in Orlando, Florida this November 18-23.
Coach Danny Stewart and Lynx player, Joe Mattacchione presented the awards to the U19 Toronto Lynx Juniors.This team also did amazingly well becoming the Heartland Conference U19 Champs and reaching the SYL North American semi-finals. The 2004 MVP Award went to Frank Jonke who is presently attending Notre Dame College and was named by the Associated Press as the offensive player of the week in the American Midwest Conference during 2004.
The Toronto Lynx Premier Soccer Academy is offering fall and winter programs and will be holding trials for the Junior teams in December. For more information call 905-469-8783.
Lynx Kick off 2005 School Program!
Teachers in the GTA have begun calling the Lynx to book their schools into the popular Lynx school soccer program before the club could catch their breath and prepare for kicking off the program for 2005. The Lynx have been assisting educators enhance their physical education programs since 1998 which includes soccer clinics delivered by the Toronto Lynx players and educational presentations on lifestyle issues such as anti-bullying and anti-smoking. Students and Teachers will cap off the program in the spring with an educational field trip outing to the annual School Day which will take place on Tuesday May 31st in 2005 with an 11:00 kick off to witness some of Canada's best soccer action. The program is supported by educational organizations such as the Ontario Physical Educators Association, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation and the Canadian Safe School Network. Schools can take advantage of this dynamic program through the Lynx Community Affairs Department.
2005 Early Season Ticket Campaign Off and Running!
Soccer fans in the GTA can once again take advantage of the Early Season ticket package being offered by the Lynx until December 31st. Management is keeping ticket prices down providing fans with a discounted package along with a complimentary official Toronto Lynx Jersey and VIP invitation to the "Meet the Lynx Luncheon" in the spring. To encourage fans to come out to support the team, the A-League franchise is also allowing season ticket holders to apply their tickets to games of their choice and in any combination. A special business package, known as the "500 Club", has been established to provide businesses not only with season tickets but lots of other promotional gifts and opportunities to reach the growing soccer community.
