
'Antz Come Back to Bite 'Hawks, 5-3

Josh McQuade netted a hat trick to lead the Fayetteville FireAntz over the Augusta RiverHawks, 5-3.
McQuade notched his first tally 7:27 into the third period. He then added goals at 10:41 into the third and at 19:55 into the third.
Fayetteville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Augusta to score on any of its three power plays. The FireAntz offense rang up 32 shots on the RiverHawks' net.
Fayetteville also got a goal from Brian Elser as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists fromMike Kavanagh, John Clewlow, Brock Sawyer, Mike Gurtler, and Bobby Reed, who each chipped in one.
Augusta's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Fayetteville power plays. By firing 30 shots on goal, the RiverHawks exceeded the 24.2 shots they average per game this year.
Augusta was led by Alex Morton, who registered one goal and one assist. Morton scored 19:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Augusta. Casey Mignone assisted on the tally. Augusta also got points from Shawn Skelly, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Myles McCauley also scored for Augusta. Other players who recorded assists for Augusta were Michael Switzer, who had one.
Marco Emond recorded 27 saves for Fayetteville. The FireAntz ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Robbie Moss made 27 saves for the RiverHawks on 31 shots. Augusta ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.

The RiverHawks return to the James Brown Arena Friday, January 11th against the Columbus Cottonmouths for YeHaw Palooza. The Team will hit the ice again on Saturday, January 12th as they face the Mississippi RiverKings at the James Brown Arena. Saturday night is Pink the Rink presented by Doctors Hospital, as the RiverHawks don pink jerseys during the game. The jerseys will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds going towards the Lydia Project.
