
'Ants Fall 42-27 in Home Opener

The Tupelo FireAnts lost Saturday night, 42-27 against the Austin Rockers at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo.
In Tupelo's home opener, despite a 15-14 lead going into the second half of the game, the 'Ants proved unsuccessful on home turf.
FireAnts quarterback Matt Wyatt was 16 of 32 for 167 yards on the night, scoring three touchdowns along with two interceptions. On all three Wyatt touchdowns, wide receiver Darryl Carter was on the other end of the ball.
'Ants kick returner Bobby Hill ran back a kickoff for a touchdown and running back Chris Rainey gained 76 yards with his longest scamper 21 yards long.
Overall Austin ran 42 plays for 138 yards while Tupelo was 56-167.
The FireAnts take a week off this week and will return to home turf on Saturday, April 26 as the visiting Beaumont Drillers come to town. Kickoff is at 7:05pm at the BancorpSouth Center. For more information, call the FireAnts at (662) 620-BITE.
