St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (March 13, 2007) - There may be snow on the ground in Minnesota, but for Saint Paul Saints public address announcer Rusty Kath, it's nothing but sunshine as he was named the new in-stadium emcee for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The 26-year old from Buffalo, MN heard about the job opening from Saints Executive Vice President, Tom Whaley. It was always a dream of Kath's to work for a Major League team, so he sent the Devil Rays a tape and in the end his dream became a reality.

"This is an incredibly difficult decision to make because it is so hard for me to leave the Saints, but it's a great honor to get the job with the Devil Rays," said Kath.

Kath spent three seasons with the Saints and applied for the job at an open casting call at ACME Comedy Club. All participants were required to do 90 seconds of stand-up and 90 seconds of improv. Kath had never done stand-up before, but his personality and sense of humor made him the choice for the Saints.

During his three years with the Saints Kath worked as a landscaper by day then headed to the ballpark to prepare for his evening job. His style of taking a little from those announcers that preceded him and his own natural sense of humor made him a crowd favorite.

The University of Minnesota-Morris graduate will be honored as his alumni sponsors a Rusty Kath Tribute Night on Tuesday, August 7. With the Devil Rays out of town Kath is available to attend the evenings festivities.

"We put on a show at the stadium every night and in order for that to go smoothly we need a strong person handling our PA duties," said Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Derek Sharrer. "For three seasons Rusty brought the Fun is Good mentality to the ballpark and he was tremendous at balancing fan interaction between promotions and keeping their attention on the field. We wish him all the success in the world with the Devil Rays."

Kath is the third member of the Saints staff to reach the Major League's this season. Radio broadcaster Kris Atteberry is the new pre and post-game radio host for the Minnesota Twins and Brock Simon is the new clubhouse attendant for the Twins.

"The Goldklang Group has always taken great pride in furthering the careers of our employees, and help them to reach their dreams," said Jeff Goldklang, of The Goldklang Group. "As evidenced by the success of former Saints employees- whether on the field, in the front office, or behind a microphone- we're thrilled to have been an integral part of this process for numerous individuals, and to share our Fun Is Good philosophy with the major leagues."

The Saints will begin their search for a new PA announcer immediately and those that feel they have the right personality and sense of humor are asked to send their resume, headshot and tape, no more than 90 seconds to:

Saint Paul Saints

Attn: Jack Weatherman

1771 Energy Park Dr.

St. Paul, MN 55108

More details on hiring a new PA announcer will follow in the coming week.
