Kenai River Brown Bears News Release
The Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Andy Walker has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for UMass-Boston.
Walker, 21, just completed his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 5'9/154 lbs. native of Mason, Michigan, appeared in all 60 games for Kenai River during the 2018-19 regular season. Walked was tied for 4th in team scoring with 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) during the regular season.
"Andy was able to step in last year and make an immediate impact. His dedication to improve his strength, speed, and his play on the defensive side of the puck this season paid off in earning this opportunity. His offensive upside is tremendous as well, and we are excited to see him display his talent at UMass Boston next season," said Dan Bogdan, Brown Bears Associate Head Coach.
Walker spent the 2017-18 season with the NAHL's Aberdeen Wings, recording nine points in 37 games played. Overall in 98 career NAHL games, he recorded 40 points.
